Mobile Food Pantry
Can’t make it to the MLK Community Center’s on-site food pantry? Our mobile food pantry visits neighborhoods across Newport County each month on a rotating schedule. Look for "MFP" on our monthly calendar. You do not need to reside in the neighborhood to get food from the Mobile Food Pantry. Our mobile pantry provides the same items found in the on-site pantry: non-perishable food, fresh produce, frozen meat, bread, household and personal care items.
Breakfast Program
Monday - Friday 7:30 - 9:00am
The MLK is pleased to serve a nutritious hot Breakfast to anyone in the Newport County community at our Breakfast Program. Take it to-go, or enjoy inside.
Food 2 Friends
If you would like to sign up, please contact Jose Ramos at:
(401) 846.4828 EXT 207
This is a monthly service for our home bound neighbors and people who are otherwise unable to come to the MLK's on-site food pantry. If you can't make it to the pantry, the pantry will come to you.
The folks we serve in Food 2 Friends shop each month through a mail-in order form, and a volunteer shops for them and delivers their groceries to their doorstep.
On-Site Year-Round at the MLK:
Every Thursday 10 am to 1 pm
or while supplies last
First come, first served. Located outside the MLK Community Center.
Newport Heights:
Every Tuesday 10 am - 1 pm
or while supplies last
June - September
First come, first served. Located on W Evans St. in Newport, between Girard Ave and John H. Chafee (behind the Florence Gray Center)
Every Thursday year-round we offer fresh produce free of charge to anyone in Newport County. The weekly inventory varies depending on what we glean from the Aquidneck Grower's Market, what we purchase through a collaboration with Garman Farm, what we receive from the RI Community Food Bank, what is donated from Jamestown Community Farm, and what is donated from our Grow A Row gardeners (community & private gardens).
