Whether you're a backyard gardener, a hydroponics gardener, a raised bed gardener, or a gardener with containers on the back porch: the MLK is in need of green thumbs!

The MLK now distributes fresh produce through our Food 2 Friends pantry delivery service, our Mobile Food Pantries, our on-site food pantry, and our Produce to the People program (weekly produce distribution, twice-weekly during the growing season). 

This growing season, consider Growing a Row for the MLK - planting an additional row of produce (or even just a few extra plants!). Once they're ripe, you can donate your excess harvest to our Hunger Services programs.

  • Download the Fresh Food Connect app (for iOS and Android)

  • Enter your home address in the app

  • Residents of Newport County will automatically connect with the MLK as their preferred nonprofit

  • Schedule a pickup from your home, at your convenience

  • One of our volunteer couriers will pick up your produce in the designated pickup area, during the designated pickup window.

Drop Off

  • Stop by the Center (20 Dr. Marcus Wheatland Blvd, Newport, RI) from 8:30 am - 5 pm Monday - Friday. 

  • Feel free to park your vehicle in our loading dock out front, ring the bell, and someone will be out to help you. 

You can also schedule a drop-off time in the Fresh Food Connect app.
